Sam Magavern will discuss and sign copies of his new literary biography, Primo Levi’s Universe. Levi is renowned for his memoirs of Auschwitz. Yet he was also a scientist, poet, mountain climber, and novelist: in short, a Renaissance man. Magavern’s book weaves Levi’s life and works together to present his view of the world—tragic and comic, Darwinist and magical, secular and Jewish—and how it evolved. Magavern co-directs Buffalo’s Partnership for the Public Good, teaches at the University at Buffalo Law School and the Cornell University ILR School, and writes in a variety of genres.
