North Carolina author Lee Smith will read from and sign copies of her new short story collection, Mrs. Darcy and the Blue-eyed Stranger.  Smith writes, “This collection means a lot to me, reflecting all the places and stages of my own life.  But my characters are braver than I am.  They tend to live passionately—‘full tilt boogie,’ as we used to say in the mountains where I grew up.  I’m trying to grab those turning points in their lives, after which things will never, ever, be the same again.”
