DANA COEN & FRIENDS, "25 Short Plays from UNC's Long Story Shorts Festival"

The Regulator welcomes Dana Coen, editor of Twenty-Five Short Plays, Selected Works from the University of North Carolina Long Story Shorts Festival, for a dramatic presentation of short plays taken from the book. Coen, who is Director of the UNC Writing for the Screen and Stage Program, will also discuss the Long Story Shorts Festival that is in its 7th year at UNC. Coen will be joined by actors Jane Holding, John Paul Middlesworth, and Michael Shannon.
 
The Long Story Shorts One Act Festival features performances of short plays written by undergraduate students in the Writing for the Screen and Stage program at UNC-CH. Marking the first five years of the festival, the anthology Twenty-Five Short Plays showcases works written to be performed in ten minutes with a small production budget.
 
Dana Coen is the creator/producer of Long Story Shorts One Act Festival and the director of the Writing for the Screen and Stage program at UNC-Chapel Hill. A former New York actor, director, and produced playwright, Coen has written extensively for television, including the Fox series Bones, and eight seasons with the CBS series JAG. He was also a staff writer for television comedies and did comedy development for Walt Disney Studios.  

The Performers:

Jane Holding: Jane's most recent project is a solo performance: “The Full Deluxe Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Falls, NC - Light Lunch Inclusive” by Allan Gurganus.

John Paul Middlesworth: John Paul frequently plays an academic on stage and currently plays one in real life.

Michael Shannon: Michael has an M.F.A. in Theatre from UNC at Chapel Hill and has performed onstage both professionally and non-professionally for the past 45 years.
