Contributors to Cornbread Nation 5, an anthology of Southern food writing put together by the Southern Foodways Alliance, will be on hand to talk about food. Marcie Cohen Ferris, author of Matzoh Ball Gumbo, will discuss “Why We Study Food,” Caroll Leggett will focus on “Soft-Shell Science,” and John Shelton Reed will relate “The Origins of ‘Barbecue.’” Amy Tornquist of Watts Grocery—a Southern Foodways Alliance member—will provide warm biscuits and cornbread, local butter, and homemade jam.
