Lots of local writers live in Hillsborough, NC, and their fictional works, journalism, poetry and essays are included in the collection, 27 Views of Hillsborough: A Southern Town in Prose and Poetry.  Contributors including the award-winning Michael Malone (Edgar, O.Henry, Writers Guild, Emmy), Lee Smith (the award-winning author of twelve novels and four short story collections), Beverly A. Scarlett (a Hillsborough native and the first African American woman to serve as a judge in Orange and Chatham counties), Bob Burtman (a freelance investigative reporter and researcher), and the Regulator’s own John Valentine (a regular contributor to the Independent Weekly) will be on hand to share their stories.
