Duke research associate Sheril Kirshenbaum will discuss and sign copies of the book she co-authored with Chris Mooney, Unscientific America: How Scientific Illiteracy Threatens Our Future.  Many of the worlds biggest problems—climate and energy crises, nuclear proliferation, the threat of global pandemic—are scientific in nature.  But despite the fact that we now have a science-friendly President and administration, there is a growing disconnect between the scientific community and average Americans that fosters mistrust and misunderstanding.
