Offered by local author Zelda Lockhart, this workshop is designed for the adult writer who has been fiddling with a story and is ready to get down to business. Each participant must submit 10 pages of manuscript (a whole short story or pages of a novel-in-process) via email by Saturday, September 19th to zelda@zeldalockhart.com. Lockhart will vet your manuscript and present it to you with notes that will help guide you through the experience of completing a whole work of fiction. She will also share her expertise in crafting a story well told, giving depth to character and plot development. A light snack and tea will be provided, and lunch options are available on Ninth St. For cost and other information, contact Lockhart at zelda@zeldalockhart.com.
Start: 7:00 pm
Kirsten Holmstedt will discuss and sign copies of her new book, The Girls Come Marching Home: Stories of Women Warriors Returning from the War in Iraq. Holmstedt, who was here last year with Band of Sisters: American Women at War in Iraq, received her Masters in Creative Nonfiction Writing at UNC-Wilmington.
